Putin proposes trilateral summit with Trump and Xi over ending Ukraine war

KABUL: Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed a trilateral meeting with the leaders of the United States and China to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the report, Putin made the remarks during a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump on October 9, suggesting that the meeting be held next month.

The source said the proposal does not include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy or European countries, with Moscow seeking to hold discussions on ending the war without Zelenskyy’s participation.

The Kremlin has confirmed that discussions about a possible meeting are underway, but no final agreement has yet been reached on whether the summit will take place or what its agenda would be.
