Head of NEPA calls for acceleration of financial aid approved at COP-29

KABUL: The head of the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) Mawlavi Muti-ul-Haq Khalis, in a press conference at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), this morning called for the swift transfer of financial aid approved at the COP-29 climate change conference.

Emphasizing on the importance of implementing global mechanisms to combat the negative effects of climate change on time, he said that detailed discussions were held at the conference regarding Afghanistan’s vulnerability to climate change.

Also, the Islamic Emirate’s delegation at COP-29 highlighted the need for interaction, cooperation, and coordination with relevant agencies in the fight against climate change.

“The Islamic Emirate delegation stressed the resumption of unfinished projects by the international community aimed at addressing climate change in Afghanistan,” Mawlavi Khalis said.

He noted that the Islamic Emirate’s delegation worked to attract global attention to effective management of environmental projects in Afghanistan by introducing a specific national contact point with the Green Climate Fund.

The Islamic Emirate delegation, led by the head of the National Environmental Protection Agency, participated in the 29th International Climate Change Conference held in Azerbaijan.
