KABUL: A joint business meeting between Afghan and turkey traders, held in Turkey, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said in a statement today.
The meeting was attended by the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Islamic Emirate Nooruddin Azizi, Deputy Minister of Industry of Turkey, an advisor to the Turkish President, and representatives from 70 Afghan companies and 60 Turkish companies, said the statement.
The companies are active in construction materials, mining, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, food products, and textiles sectors, said the statement.
The meeting participants emphasized on enhancing trade between Turkey and Afghanistan, considering the historical relations between the two countries and the importance of trade between Kabul and Ankara, while addressing transit and transportation issues.
According to the statement, Turkish officials expressed their country’s readiness to collaborate with other nations on reviving the Lapis Lazuli route during the joint business meeting.
“Turkish traders showed interest and readiness to invest in sectors such as agriculture, mining, energy, Islamic banking, and legal trade matters. Suggestions were made to establish a friendship or joint chamber between the two countries, create an exhibition center, and continue these initiatives,” said the statement.
Also, Morsus and Maytham Steel Companies have agreed to establish a joint factory in Afghanistan.
