KABUL: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, discussed Afghanistan’s economic growth, the expansion of humanitarian aid, and other issues during a meeting with Roza Otunbayeva, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and head of UNAMA.
Referring to the achievements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in the field of economic stability, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the country’s economy is on the rise after stabilization.
He cited a recent report from the World Bank, which indicated a 2.7% economic growth for this year, adding that additional plans for economic development are currently being implemented, and once completed, Afghanistan will witness rapid economic growth.
Ms. Otunbayeva noted that for the first time in the past three years, the level of developmental aid to Afghanistan has exceeded humanitarian aid, which she described as a very positive development likely to have a beneficial impact on the country’s economy.
She praised the efforts of the Islamic Emirate and promised to share these achievements in UN meetings.
