KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, during his trip to Kandahar, visited the construction site of the Shurandam Cement Factory in the province to oversee its operations.
Mullah Baradar expressed satisfaction with the progress made at the factory and issued necessary directives for ensuring quality and timely completion of the work, his office said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the construction of the factory has been entrusted to a private company by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, with an estimated cost of 8 billion Afghanis.
The Factory will produce 1,500 tons of cement daily in its initial phase, with plans to increase this capacity to 5,000 tons in subsequent phases, the statement said, adding that job opportunities will be provided for approximately 5,000 individuals, both directly and indirectly.
