Contracts for 206 electricity projects worth over 3.5 billion Afghanis signed this year, DABS

KABUL:  Contracts for 206 electricity-related projects worth over 3.5 billion Afghanis have been signed this solar year, some of which have been completed while others are ongoing.

Speaking in a press conference, Dr. Abdul Bari Omar, the CEO of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) the country’s main power supply company, said that currently, work is underway to construct four substations in Herat, which will benefit 40,000 consumers.

“Afghanistan has significant potential for solar and wind energy production, and efforts are underway to conduct technical research in these areas while encouraging investors to invest,” he said.

According to the officials of DABS, the analysis and evaluation of proposals for 14 investment projects aimed at constructing power generation plants with a total capacity of around 505 megawatts have also been completed.
