Dozens of medal winner athletes from Pakistan and Iran Sports Competitions honored

KABUL: The General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, during a ceremony, has praised the efforts of 36 medal-winning athletes from the country who recently earned medals in competitions held in Iran and Pakistan.

According to a statement from the directorate, nine taekwondo athletes succeeded in securing a total of nine gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Asian Open Championships last week, while 27 other athletes earned medals in the lightweight combat sports competitions in Iran.

The Asian Open Taekwondo Championships took place in Pakistan, featuring athletes from 27 countries.

Also, the martial arts competitions were held in Iran, where the Afghan delegation consisted of 20 athletes, one coach, and one head.

During the recognition ceremony, these athletes received both material and spiritual appreciation for their achievements.

This recognition comes as Afghan athletes continue to shine in international competitions.

Last night, the national cricket team made history by defeating the England national team.
