Iran’s Vice President Javad Zarif resigns

KABUL: Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Iran’s strategic deputy of President Masoud Pezeshkian, has resigned from his position, Iranian state-run IRNA news agency reported on Sunday.
However, no decision has yet been made regarding its acceptance or rejection.
Media in Iran have linked Zarif’s resignation to the impeachment and removal of the country’s Minister of Economy by the Islamic Consultative Assembly.
Zarif himself stated that he resigned at the request of the Iranian judiciary chief.
This is the second time that Zarif has resigned since the beginning of Pezeshkian’s presidency.
This comes in the wake of the Iranian parliament’s recent impeachment of the Minister of Economy due to unfavorable economic conditions in the country.
