{"id":12073,"date":"2025-05-31T10:29:17","date_gmt":"2025-05-31T10:29:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/omidradio.com\/en\/?p=12073"},"modified":"2025-05-31T10:29:20","modified_gmt":"2025-05-31T10:29:20","slug":"power-generating-projects-worth-64-million-commence-in-herat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/omidradio.com\/en\/2025\/05\/31\/power-generating-projects-worth-64-million-commence-in-herat\/","title":{"rendered":"Power-generating projects worth $64 million commence in Herat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KABUL: Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) said today that a project to generate 43.2 MW of wind power and 5 MW of solar power worth $64 million, during a ceremony, has been commenced in Herat province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the ceremony, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, stated that Afghanistan currently relies on imported electricity, which is costly and not a reliable long-term solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized that efforts are underway to utilize domestic capacities to meet the country&#8217;s energy needs while also fostering a transparent and secure investment environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Dr. Abdul Bari Omar, the CEO of DABS, mentioned that Afghanistan could produce 250 MW of electricity for decades, but now a new production project is being launched every week. He highlighted that nearly all electricity development projects are being implemented using domestic resources and budgets, without any foreign assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to DABS, the country possesses significant potential for electricity generation from hydro, thermal, and wind resources, which requires investment.
