Afghan officials say around 116 kilometers of the pipeline have already been laid inside Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Afghan and Turkmen sides also signed a memorandum on August 10 concerning the purchase of gas through TAPI, bringing Afghanistan closer to becoming the first TAPI market to actually receive gas. However, the memorandum does not yet specify the final price, supply volume or exact start date for commercial deliveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan also recently announced that the construction of the TAPI project in Herat is progressing rapidly and the relevant section of the province is expected to be completed before winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The TAPI project, which is supposed to transport Turkmen gas from Afghanistan to Pakistan and India, is one of the most important energy projects in the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KABUL: The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline has moved closer to beginning its first gas sales in Afghanistan after years of delays, with Turkmenistan preparing to supply gas to Herat province.
