BEIJING: The head of the Asian Department at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Liu Jin, praised the efforts of the Islamic Emirate in activating the Wakhan Corridor during a meeting with Mawlavi Asadullah Bilal Karimi, the Islamic Emirate’s ambassador in Beijing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement from the Afghan embassy in Beijing, Liu expressed China’s readiness to take gradual steps toward activating the Wakhan Corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the meeting, both sides discussed the continuation of positive political, economic, trade, and transit interactions between Afghanistan and its neighboring countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liu Jin mentioned that following President Xi Jinping’s order, China will waive customs duties on exports, including those from Afghanistan, for 40 countries worldwide starting in January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also emphasized increasing activities in the Amu Darya oil sector in northern Afghanistan and the Mes Aynak copper mine in Logar province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
