KABUL: The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MoRRD) in two separate statements on Saturday said that two water supply projects with the cost of more than ten million Afghanis were inaugurated in Bamyan and Nangarhar provinces.
According to the statement, the water supply in Bamyan province was completed and inaugurated in the “Kata Khan” area of Yakawolang district of this province.
“The water supply network was constructed with the cost of seven million Afghanis, which was paid by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR),” according to the source.
With inauguration of the project safe drinking water was provided to 400 families.
Meanwhile, construction of a water supply system kicked off in the Amber Khani area off Bati Kot district in Nangarhar province.
“The project worth 45,000 US dollars will be implemented with the financial support of (USAID) and the direct collaboration of the provincial Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of Nangarhar Province,” according to the source.
With execution of this project, 300 families will have access to safe drinking water.
Lack of drinking water, especially in the rural areas of Afghanistan, is one of the essential needs of the people.
