KABUL: The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi have been given 10-year prison sentences in the Cipher case, Pakistan media reported.
The Pakistani court sentenced Khan on Tuesday for leaking state secrets.
A leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Gohar Khan, told the media the other day that the caretaker government of Pakistan might imprison Imran Khan for life or execute him.
Officials say that Imran Khan and his deputy Shah Mahmood Qureshi can file an appeal.
Pakistan’s ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan had been ousted through a no-confidence motion in the parliament in April 2022.
He is sentenced to 10 years of jail, while the general elections are expected to be held in Pakistan on 8 February.
