KABUL: The Economic Commission approved the installation of electronic scanners in 12 custom-houses of the country.
The meeting of the Economic Commission was held yesterday [Tuesday] with the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar, on the chair, at the Marmarin Palace, his office said in a statement.
Based on the plan, the private sector, in collaboration with the public participation, is supposed to invest approximately 8 billion Afghanis in installing electronic scanners at 12 customs ports.
In the meeting, the proposed plan of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing was also discussed, in which, it was decided that considering the ministry as a policymaker the survey, design and monitoring of the projects would be carried out by the ministry and it would be implemented by the relevant ministries, said the statement.
The installation of electric scanners in the country’s ports is considered a fundamental necessity.
By the installation of scanners at the country’s customs ports, the import and export of smuggled goods will be prevented.
