Pakistan election result face delay, some political parties claim victory

KABUL: Based on Pakistani media reports, the preliminary result of Pakistani elections faced several hours of delay.

Some political parties asked election departments today [Friday] for the announcement of the election result.

The election announcement faced 10 hours of delay, media reported.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claimed victory in the elections.

Preliminary election results are expected to be announced today, and the final results will be made public within the next two weeks.

The results of Pakistan’s elections were delayed Friday a day after the voting process was faced sporadic violence, and mobile phone service shutdown.

There are 266 seats up for grabs in the National Assembly, with a further 70 reserved for women and minorities. If no party wins an outright majority, the one with the biggest share of the seats can form a coalition government.
