KABUL: Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior Affairs Mufti Abdul Mateen Qani, said that the last two prisoners of the Afghan government were released from Guantanamo Bay and arrived home today [Monday, February 12] morning.
Mufti Qanehi wrote on his X account that the released prisoners are Mullah Abdul Zahir and Haji Abdul Kabir.
Mullah Abdul Zahir was released from Guantanamo Bay in 2017 and transferred to Oman, but he was banned from traveling to other countries.
With the efforts of the Islamic Emirate, the sanctions imposed on him were removed and invited to the country.
According to Mufti Qaneh Mullah Abdul Zahir is from Hisarak village of Logar province.
The second prisoner, Haji Abdul Karim is from Tenay district of Khost province, who was arrested by the Pakistani government in 2002 and handed over to the American invaders.
He also spent 14 years in Guantanamo, after which he was transferred to Oman and banned from traveling. He was also freed by the efforts of the Islamic Emirate and invited to return to the country.
