KABUL: The Afghan delegation led by acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, during his visit to Turkmenistan met with the Deputy Council of Ministers and Rashid Meredov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of that country in Ashgabat capital of Turkmenistan, Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
The meeting participants discussed bilateral relations, increasing Afghan diplomatic presence in Ashgabat, practical implementation of the TAPI project in Afghanistan territory, increasing electricity imports from Turkmenistan to Herat city, restoration of Lapis lazuli route, expanding Afghan-Turkmen railway lines and investments in the country, according to the source.
Minister Mutaqi emphasized the need to increase visa issuance for Afghan traders by Turkmenistan in order to enhance trade relations.
Meanwhile, Meredov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, stated that increasing the level of trade between Kabul and Ashgabat is in top priority of his country.
He assured his country’s commitment towards providing scholarships to Afghan students in the fields of railways, transport, and gas.
“A group of Turkmen engineers working to increase the amount of electricity exported from Turkmenistan to the Norul-Jihad substation in Herat province,” he said.
