Extraction of Mes Aynak conditional on preserving ancient artifacts, MoIC

KABUL: Officials of the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) state that the extraction of copper from the Mes Aynak in Logar province is conditional upon preserving the existing historical artifacts.

The Deputy Minister of Art and Culture of Information and Culture Mawlavi Atiqullah Azizi, made the remarks during a meeting with Song Wenbing, the CEO of the contracting company for the extraction Mes Aynak in Logar province.

 “Extraction of Mes Aynak is important, but the preservation of the historical assets in this area is more important than that,” he said.

Meanwhile, the CEO of the extracting company has stated that the mining extraction plan has also been approved by the Chinese government.

Earlier, the officials of the mining extraction company in a meeting with the Acting Minister of Information and Culture said that while extracting mines attention will be paid to the historical artifacts.
