‌Contract of fourth section of second phase of Khawaf-Herat railway signed

KABUL: In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, a contract cost $53 million for the fourth section of the second phase of the Khawaf-Herat railway, has been signed, Deputy PM office said in a statement the other day.

According to the statement, the project which is 47 kilometers long, is going to be built with a standard base in two years.

The contract has been signed between the Afghanistan Railway Authority and Gamma Group, with a total cost of $53 million, integrating the Khawaf-Herat regional connectivity project with Iran’s significant seaports and facilitate access to Europe via the Turkish railway network, the statement said.

The fourth part of the second section of the Khawaf-Herat railway is the last part of this route, which starts from the “Rebat Perian” area and extends to the airport and the industrial town of Herat province.
