KABUL: Spokesman of the State Ministry for Disaster Management, Mawlavi Mohammad Abdullah Jan Sayeq said in a press conference today that in the last month, cash and non-cash assistance has been provided to more than 23,000 families across the country.
“Since the beginning of the current solar year, 33 people have been martyred, 27 others injured, 200 livestock killed and nearly 2,000 acres of agricultural land have also been submerged as a result of flash floods, he said adding that more than 600 residential houses have been partially or completely destroyed.
According to Sayeq, the Ministries of National Defense, Interior, Public Works, and Public Health, along with local officials in the provinces, have assisted the affected people during natural disasters.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Water and Energy has warned of flooding in five river basins in the country over the next two days.
