KABUL: The deputy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Tariq Ali Bakheet, leading a high-ranking delegation, on Saturday, arrived in Kabul and met with the acting Minister of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Shaikh Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, the ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, in the meeting, the delegation of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation praised the ministry’s efforts in combating vices in Afghanistan.
“Media propaganda about the violation of women’s rights in Afghanistan is incorrect,” the delegation said, adding that they believe in positive relations with the IEA and assured their continued cooperation with Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, the acting Minister of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, stated that in the past three years, the Islamic Emirate has obtained the rights [Inheritance] of thousands of deserving women and granted them.
Since the establishment of the Islamic Emirate, the practice of giving women in marriage against their will has been eliminated, said Hanafi.
“The Islamic Emirate is committed to ensuring women’s rights in the country,” the statement quoted him as saying.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is one of the largest and most reputable organizations in the Islamic world.
