KABUL: Following the AFC Futsal Asian Cup, the Afghan national team managed to defeat the Iraq team 5-3, in Thailand, on Friday and moved closer to the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup qualification.
The Afghan futsal players started the game aggressively and went into halftime with a score of 4-2.
In the second half, although the Iraqi futsal players made efforts to take the lead, it was ultimately the Afghan team that ended the game in their favor in the final seconds.
The goals for Afghanistan in the match were scored by Akbar Kazemi, Farzad Mahmoodi, Mehran Gholami, and Javad Safari.
The team is set to face Kyrgyzstan on Sunday, following Kyrgyzstan’s narrow 3-2 victory over Thailand in the second playoff match on Friday.
