KABUL: The National Football Federation of Afghanistan said in a statement today that the Afghan futsal team has successfully qualified for the FIFA Futsal World Cup for the first time.
The national futsal team in their last matches faced the Kyrgyzstan team on Sunday, held in Thailand and managed to defeat Kyrgyzstan 5-3 and qualify for the World Cup.
Afghanistan’s Omid Qanbari, Akbar Kazemi, Mahdi Norouzi, and Mehran Gholami scored twice in the game.
Earlier, Afghanistan’s 5-3 victory over Iraq on Friday brings them closer to qualifying for the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
