KABUL: The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) will strive to develop Afghanistan’s electricity, the Ministry of Water and Energy said in a statement today.
Head of UNICEF for Afghanistan Dr. Tajuddin, made the remarks in a meeting with the acting Minister of Water and Energy Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, said the statement.
Water projects are the top priority of UNICEF, he said adding, that his led organization will continue to work more for strengthening groundwater and drinking water resource management in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the acting Minister of Water and Energy Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, pointing to climate change asked the officials of the UNICEF to collaborate with the ministry in the transfer of Panjshir River water to Kabul.
Mullah Mansoor also sought cooperation from UNICEF in the capacity building of engineers and the provision of technical equipment.
UNICEF is one of the United Nations agencies that has implemented numerous projects in the clean drinking water sector in the country since the establishment of the Islamic Emirate.
