KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, on Friday inspected the Kabul-Jalalabad second road, yesterday, his office said in a statement.
According to the statement, Deputy PM Mullah Baradar was accompanied by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Minister of Public Works, Mullah Mohammad Issa Sani, the Governors of Kabul and Nangarhar, Mawlavi Aminullah Obaid, and Mullah Mohammad Naeem Akhund respectively.
During the visit, the Deputy PM underscored the significance of the Kabul-Jalalabad route as a vital commercial highway, witnessing daily transit by hundreds of cargo and passenger vehicles.
“Crowding, landslides and traffic accidents on this road inflected financial and human losses to citizens,” the statement quoted Mullah Baradar as saying.
According to him, the construction work of the road is the top priority of the Islamic Emirate and will be started soon.
