FM Muttaqi, Uzbek high-ranking delegation discussed various bilateral issues

KABUL: The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with a high-ranking Uzbek delegation, including Ilhom Mahkamov, Minister of Transport, and Ismatullah Irgashev, Special Representative of Uzbekistan for Afghan Affairs, here in Kabul, Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal said in a statement on his X handle today.

According to the statement, in the meeting, political, economic, regional connectivity, transit projects, trade, joint investments, and cultural relations have been discussed.

“By establishing a secure environment in Afghanistan and adopting an economy-centered policy, Uzbekistan and other neighboring countries can utilize this situation to expand relations in various dimensions,” the statement quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, Ilhom Mahkamov, the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, said that this time they have come to Afghanistan with a committed and strong technical team in private sectors such as geology, railways, and mines, and they have good news for the Afghan people.

“Uzbekistan supports the Islamic Emirate’s plan, which transforms Afghanistan into a regional connectivity hub,” he said.

Pointing to the Afghan-Uzbek railway project, Ilhom stated that they have brought an engineering team with them, and another team will arrive during the week to conduct the necessary feasibility studies for this project.

Since the restoration of the Islamic Emirate Uzbekistan has expanded its relations with Afghanistan in various fields.
