Japan calls important IEA’s participation in upcoming UN Doha meeting on Afghanistan

KABUL: The Japan Ambassador to Kabul, Takayoshi Kurokawa, in a meeting on Monday, with the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, called important the Islamic Emirate’s participation in the upcoming United Nations meeting on Afghanistan in Doha, Qatar.

According to the ministry’s statement, the Japanese ambassador to Afghanistan has conveyed condolences and sympathy of his government and people in connection with the recent devastating floods in the country.

He said that his country understands the achievements of the Islamic Emirate, and  reopened its embassy in Kabul to work closely.

Meanwhile, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that the understanding of Afghanistan’s realities among regional countries is increasing with each passing day.

Mawlavi Muttaqi added that the Islamic Emirate has a positive view regarding the Doha meeting, said the statement.

“Instead of new mechanisms, it is better to engage in bilateral discussions with the Afghan government within the framework of existing mechanisms,” the statement quoted him as saying.
