KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, during his stay in Baghlan, met with the officials of different UN agencies in Afghanistan, his office said in a statement on Friday.
Mullah Baradar said that the level of damages in Baghlan is high and the United Nations officials should speed up their assistance in development areas in addition to humanitarian aid to the flood victims of the province.
Mullah Baradar earlier said that the recent floods have destroyed 19 hospitals, 19 schools, 115 culverts, dozens of big and small water canals and also 60 kilometers of road, which needs basic reconstruction.
The representatives of the United Nations agencies based in Afghanistan have expressed their sympathy to the victims of the Baghlan flood and assured the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, that in addition to humanitarian aid, they will also provide assistance and cooperation in development fields.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund has called on all international aid agencies to help Afghans in this difficult situation.
On the other hand, the Islamic Emirate has expressed its gratitude to the countries and various institutions of the world for their sympathy with the Afghans.
