KABUL: The president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, said that Russia’s nuclear power plant will be built in his country, Reuters reported.
According to the report, if the agreement between Tashkent and Moscow for the construction of the power plant is finalized, it will lead to an increase in Russian oil and gas and circumvent Western sanctions on Russia.
Reuters also reported that Russia will build six nuclear reactors with a capacity of 55 megawatts each in Uzbekistan.
The report was published at a time, while Russia’s President Vladimir Putin visiting Tashkent.
If Russia’s decision to build a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan materializes, it will be the first nuclear power plant to be constructed in Central Asia.
