20,000 tons of Bamyan talc mine sold for nearly $8 mln

KABUL: The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said in a statement that 20,000 tons of talc extracted from Bamyan mines have been sold for $7.8 million.

According to the statement, the talc was sold at an auction event, chaired by the acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Shaikh Shahabuddin Delawar, and attended by 31 bidding companies.

Each ton of talc was sold for $390 and was extracted from the Ganda Kotal area of the Yakawlang district of Bamyan province.

In addition to discussing the provision of facilitation for investment in Afghanistan’s natural resources sector, Shaikh Delawar also said that through the implementation of small and large-scale projects job employment opportunities will be provided for the country’s citizens.

Two days ago, the ministry has also sold 60,000 tons of crude oil extracted from the Qashqari mines, worth $33 million.
