Practical work on 500 kv Dasht-e-Alwan-Arghandi transmission line begins, ministry

KABUL: The Ministry of Water and Energy said in a statement on Saturday that the practical work of the 500 kv transmission line project from Dasht-e-Alwan, Pul-e-Khumri to Arghandi, Kabul has begun.

According to the statement, the project will be managed by the Ministry of Energy and Water, with the investment of the sector.

The statement added, that with the implementation of the transmission line project, an additional 1,000 megawatts of electricity from Turkmenistan will be transmitted to Afghanistan, as well as the problem of electricity shortage in 12 provinces of the country will also be solved.

It is worth mentioning that the contract for the 500 kv Dasht-e-Alwan-Arghandi transmission line was signed last December between the Ministry of Water and Energy and the private sector.
