Economic Commission approves temporary gold exporting procedure

KABUL: Chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Economic Commission meeting held today, approved the temporary procedure for exporting gold, Arg said in a statement.

According to the statement, the meeting discussed, granting national optical fiber licenses for new applicants, using LED lights instead of current lights in government institutions, and a number of other economic issues.

Based on the approved procedure, the temporary export of gold will be carried out in the light of the established principles and gold smuggling will largely be prevented, the statement added.

After comprehensive discussions, the Afghanistan Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ATRA) has been tasked to issue national optical fiber licenses based on national interests to new applicants through international tendering, the statement further said, adding with the move the optical fiber network will be expanded countrywide, and cheap and quality internet services will also be provided to all citizens.

Furthermore, all Emirati institutions have been obliged to use LED lights in case of amortization of old lights, the move will save millions of Afghani annually.

Also, the Economic Commission tasked the Ministry of Water and Energy to conduct the necessary economic analyses to save electricity consumption.
