Wheat yields increased by 13 percent this year, ministry

KABUL: As a result of recent rains, wheat yields increased in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Water and Energy said in a statement.

According to the statement, Afghanistan’s wheat yield increased by 13 percent compared to the previous year.

In the current 1403 solar year, wheat was planted on 2.14 million hectares of land across the country, in which 4.9 million metric tons of wheat will be harvested, said the statement.

Afghanistan needs 6.9 million tons of wheat in a year, according to this figure, it will import another 2 million tons of wheat.
