Health Ministery rejects WHO’s report regarding increase of cholera cases in Afghanistan

KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), in a statement, today, rejected the recent report of the World Health Organization (WHO) claiming that the positive cases of cholera have significantly increased in Afghanistan.
According to the statement: “Report of some media regarding the increase in positive cases of cholera and death caused by the disease in Afghanistan is incorrect.”
Based on the recent report of the World Health Organization (WHO), While the report was published for the Eastern Mediterranean region, as acute watery diarrhea (AWD) word is used for Afghanistan figures, which has no link to actual cholera disease figures in the country, said the statement.
The ministry has emphasized that there are no positive cases of cholera in the country and if there are positive cases, they will be shared with the media, the statement further said, asking the media to be professional and accurate in preparing reports and to share accurate and real information about diseases with citizens and the world community.
