KABUL: The Deputy Minister of Public Health on Providing Health Services Mawlavi Abdul Wali Haqqani, stated that over the past two years, treatment has been provided for 55,000 drug addicts including children, youth, elderly and women in the country, the ministry said in a statement.
He made the remarks today [Wednesday, June 26, 2024] in a ceremony held to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, here in the Ministry of Public Health.
According to the statement, the ceremony was attended by the ministry’s officials, representatives of the counter-narcotics and domestic and international organizations.
Speaking in the ceremony, Mawlavi Abdul Wali Haqqani said that there are currently 61 active drug addiction rehabilitation centers across the country.
The participants of the meeting expressed their commitment to counter-narcotics, and drug trafficking, and the coordination efforts in this regard.
