Minister Azizi, Uzbek PM discussed bilateral, regional projects

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi, during his trip to Tashkent, met with Abdulla Aripov, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, the ministry said in a statement today.

According to the statement, in the meeting, the two sides discussed large bilateral projects between Kabul and Tashkent, as well as regional projects.

Also, the two sides discussed increasing trade volume between Kabul and Tashkent, creating more transit facilities through railways and roads, attracting Uzbek investment in various sectors including Afghan mines, and establishing working committees in specific areas, said the statement.

The Uzbek Prime Minister expressed his country’s readiness to invest in the Surkhan Darya-Pul-e-Khumri and Kabul power projects, as well as the Hairatan-Herat and Spin Boldak railway projects.

In the meeting, it was also decided that  Abdulla Aripov Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, leading a delegation will soon visit Afghanistan to pursue the projects and contracts.
