KABUL: Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, in a statement today, called the recent report of UNAMA titled “Moral Oversight”, which includes the activities of the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, inaccurate and untrue.
He stressed that the rulings implemented by the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice are well-known Islamic laws.
“The UNAMA reporters are trying to assess the situation in Afghanistan from a Western perspective, which is not correct,” he said adding Afghanistan should be assessed as an Islamic country, and the desires of the country’s citizens, who are overwhelmingly Muslim, should be taken into account.
Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid emphasized that under the rule of the Islamic Emirate, the legal rights of all citizens of the country are ensured, and everyone is treated according to Sharia.
It is worth noting that the recent UNAMA report has described the activities of the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice as violating the rights of the country’s citizens.
