Minister Muttaqi discussed TAPI project with Turkmen ambassador

KABUL: The Acting Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in a meeting with Hoja Ovezov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Kabul, discussed TAPI project, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

In the meeting, a series of important issues including the extension of the TAPI pipeline in the territory of Afghanistan, increasing the capacity of Torghundi station and the affairs of Herat Noorul Jihad substation have been discussed, the statement said.

Muttaqi expressed hope that the Afghan side will try to solve the remaining issues of the Tapi project in the territory of Afghanistan and start practical work.

“The relevant agencies of Afghanistan are working to finalize all the legal documents of the project and prepare the ground for the project’s practical work and also they are working on the construction of railway related facilities in Torghundi port and will inform Turkmenistan in the near future,” the statement quoted Muttaqi as asying.
