Meeting of National Committee on Ports and Crossing held

KABUL: Chaired by the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi, the sixth meeting of the National Committee on Ports and Crossings was held with the participation of its members, the ministry said in a statement.

In the meeting, the request of the “Moore Afghan” company to launch a container line transfer system in land and sea trade ports and the renting of containers from the Emirate’s administrations, the activation of the Kalfat port in Qarqin district of Jawzjan province, the identification of problems in the ports, and the establishment of an office for the National Ports Committee has been discussed.

The meeting participants unanimously emphasized the need for Afghanistan to have a container transfer system and demanded the enrichment of the plan and its presentation to the Economic Commission for approval. They also decided to appoint a delegation to review the Kalfat port, assigned the Ministry of Finance to provide its analysis on this port, Aqina, and Torghundi, and start the activities of local committees in the crossings ports. The meetings of the National Committee Ports, led by the Ministry of Industry, inspect ways to improve trade and transit in the country’s ports.
