KABUL: Da Afghanistan Bank (the country’s Central Bank), in a statement, said today that 559 billion worn-out Afghani banknotes have been burned in the presence of the appointed delegation.
The worn-out banknotes which encompass 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000 Afghani banknotes, have been collected from the central western zone of the country and set on fire in the presence of the appointed delegation, the statement said.
Meanwhile, Mullah Mohammad Akhund, the Second Deputy of the Central Bank, during the burning of the worn-out banknotes, called on the citizens to preserve and protect the banknotes.
The lack of attention to the proper maintenance of the national currency has caused the Afghan banknotes to wear out prematurely, Mullah Akhund said, asking the compatriots to pay attention to its preservation and maintenance when using the national currency in daily transactions so that it does not expire before its expiration date.
Also, a few days ago, over 1 million worn-out Afghani banknotes had been collected from the central zone of the country, were burned by the bank.
