Expansion of TAPI pipeline project is one of IEA’s priorities, FM Muttaqi

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in a meeting with the ambassador and director of TAPI project for Turkmenistan Mohammad Murad Amanov, here in Kabul discussed the final preparations of the gas pipeline project in Afghanistan territory, Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The expansion of the TAPI project in Afghanistan is one of the priorities of the Islamic Emirate,” said Muttaqi, expressing hope that the practical work of the project will be started in the territory of Afghanistan.

In the meeting, the director of the TAPI gas pipeline company said that Turkmenistan has extended the mentioned pipeline on its territory to the border of Afghanistan.

The length of the TAPI pipeline reaches 1,800 kilometers, which will transport gas from Turkmenistan to India through Afghanistan and Pakistan.
