Mullah Baradar kicks off construction work on Palatuni Water Dam in Paktika

KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, in an official ceremony, inaugurated the construction of the Palatuni Water Dam in Paktika province, the Deputy PM office said in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement, the ceremony was attended by the Acting Minister of Water and Energy, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, local scholars, businessmen, and several government officials.
Speaking in the ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Islamic Emirate understands that agriculture is crucial for a strong economy, and water is the most essential element for agricultural development.
To develop the agriculture sector, the Islamic Emirate has prioritized water management, Baradar said, asking the investors, particularly domestic investors to invest in the sector and contribute to the country’s economic progress and development.
“The Islamic Emirate is determined to manage natural resources, alongside other sectors, for the country’s self-sufficiency and socio-economic development. Opportunities have been created for both domestic and foreign investors to invest in the area,” the statement quoted Baradar as saying.
It has the capacity to store approximately 25 million cubic meters of water, irrigate 2,500 acres of land, and generate 935 kilowatts of electricity.
