4,000 sports competitions held in past year, Mawlavi Wasiq

KABUL: The head of the General Directorate of the National Olympic Committee, Physical Education, and Sports Mawlavi Ahmaddullah Wasiq, has said that 4,000 sports competitions have been held in the country over the past year.

The leadership of the directorate made the remarks today during a press conference, held at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) sharing one-year achievements said that the competitions were organized in various formats, including encouragement, commemorative, and official events.

They emphasized that five leagues in football, futsal, wrestling, volleyball, and Buzkashi were launched over the past year.

The officials highlighted significant achievements, including winning five medals at the Asian Olympic Games, the U-17 football team’s championship in the CAFA tournaments, the futsal team’s qualification for the World Cup, and the taekwondo team’s victory in the G2 competitions.
