KABUL: Construction work on Qush Tepa and Darzab road worth 1.4 billion Afghani (some 20 million U.S. dollars), in an official ceremony, has been started, the Ministry of Public Work’s spokesman, Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, said in a statement on his X account on Sunday.
According to the statement, the road with a length of 51 kilometers, 137 culverts, and retaining walls has been contracted with three companies in three separate lots by the Ministry of Public Works in Jawzjan province.
With the construction of the road, people’s transportation problems will be solved and significant facilities will be created in the fast and safe transportation of commercial and agricultural goods, the statement said.
The spokesperson added that the road will start from Qush Tepa district in Jawzjan province and will continue to Darzab district.
The Ministry of Public Works is committed to building transportation infrastructure by constructing key roads and highways throughout the country.
