KABUL: The Ministry of Water and Energy announced the inauguration of the new 252 MWA Tarakhil substation and the 220-Kilovolts transmission line from Chamtala area to the new Tarahkil substation, with the cost of $18.7 million.
In the ceremony held on this occasion, was participated by the Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, Emirati officials and some others, according to a statement from the ministry on Sunday.
Water management and the development of electricity production are the Islamic Emirate’s priorities, said the statement.
Speaking in the ceremony, the Acting Minister of Water and Energy Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour, said that more public welfare projects are underway, which will be inaugurated upon completion.
Additionally, Dr. Abdul Bari Omar, the executive director of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, said that energy development is a fundamental principle for the country’s self-sufficiency in electricity.
He said: “Breshna is working diligently with the Ministry of Water and Energy to further develop electricity production in the country.”
According to the statement, the inaugurated projects will be implemented by domestic companies and with the completion of the projects 250,000 residential and commercial subscribers in Kabul will benefit from electricity.
