KABUL: Work on a carpet weaving and processing center worth 16 million Afghani (some 230,180 US dollars), during a ceremony, has been started in Jawzjan province, the provincial Refugees and Repatriation Department said in a statement.
Speaking in the ceremony, the deputy Minister of Refugees and Repatriations Mawlavi Abdul Rahman Rashed said that this carpet weaving and processing center will be established with the financial support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Aqcha district of the province.
“The center will have a 155-meter perimeter wall, two general gates, two carpet weaving centers, carpet weaving and processing equipment and other materials,” he said.
The residents of the district welcomed the establishment of this center and called on the Islamic Emirate to pay attention to the handicraft industry in the province.
With the establishment of this center, 500 people of the district will be provided with work.
