KABUL: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, said that the TAPI gas pipeline project will change the discussion of war and competition into development and cooperation.
He made the remarks, during the Sunday night banquet, here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended by ambassadors and representatives from various countries and regional and global organizations, Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal said in a statement Monday.
“The commencement of the TAPI project on Afghanistan’s soil marks a significant shift in the regional discourse from war and rivalry to development and cooperation,” the statement quoted him as saying.
According to the statement, Mr. Muttaqi stated that the political will of the Islamic Emirate to support the transfer of gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India (TAPI) is strong.
He expressed hope that the people of Pakistan and India would also benefit from this significant regional project.
Meanwhile, Hoja Ovezov, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, said that the start of practical work on the TAPI project in Afghanistan is the beginning of a new chapter in the relations between the two countries.
