Suhail Shaheen: Exclusion of Islamic Emirate representative from UN General Assembly deepens existing gaps

KABUL: The head of the Political Office of the Islamic Emirate in Doha, Qatar, Suhail Shaheen, said in a statement on his X account that the exclusion of a representative or delegation from the Islamic Emirate at the UN General Assembly will further deepen the existing gaps in bilateral relations.

“The continuation of this situation will not resolve any issues,” he said adding that the absence of a delegation from Afghanistan at the General Assembly contradicts the organization’s policy of engagement with the Islamic Emirate.”

Suhail Shaheen stressed that the Islamic Emirate currently has full control throughout the country and enjoys the support of the people, and therefore should be present at UN meetings.

This comes as Afghanistan’s permanent seat at the United Nations remains in a state of uncertainty.
