KABUL: The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said in a statement that construction work on 425 meters of retaining walls worth 58 million Afghanis (some 852,226 U.S. dollars)
in three projects have been completed and inaugurated in Zabul province.
The retaining walls, with the financial support of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), have been constructed in Pizwan, Dawigari, and Chini villages of the Sayuri district of Zabul province.
The newly constructed retaining walls have 425 meters long and 3 meters high.
The purpose of the retaining walls is to prevent water erosion and protect agricultural land from degradation.
During the execution of these projects, job opportunities were also created for dozens of individuals.
