KABUL: The Deputy Political Minister of Foreign Affairs Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, stated that the Islamic Emirate could halt Pakistan’s trade convoys from reaching Central Asian countries.
He made the remarks in response to the suspension of trade convoys transporting fruits and vegetables from Afghan traders.
He noted that the challenges faced by Afghan fresh fruits and vegetables traders in recent days have been reviewed by the ministry.
Stanikzai urged the Pakistani government not to block transit routes for Afghan fruit and vegetable convoys.
“Every year, during the harvest season of Afghan fruits and vegetables, Pakistan closes the export routes for these goods, hindering their access to South Asian markets,” Stanikzai said.
This statement comes after several fresh fruit and vegetable traders, in a meeting with the Acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, complained about the suspension of their convoys by the Pakistani government.
